Looking to meet the needs of the new Australian Curriculum Cross Curriculum Priority – Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Histories & Culture?
Groups can explore the interactive walk through attraction as general guests or have an exclusive program delivered by their very own Indigenous Interpretation Officer. Programs commence at 9.30am or 10.15am with groups needing to arrive at Dreamworld General Enquiries approximately 20 minutes before your scheduled program.
Welcome to Country – Guided Tour of Dreamworld Corroboree (including creation story) 45mins
Upon arrival you will be greeted in local Yugambeh language. Your Interpretation Officer will then provide a tour of Dreamworld Corroboree that showcases the world’s oldest living culture, Australia’s Indigenous people and their connection with the land and animals. Your group will experience your own exclusive screening of ‘Creation of the Gold Coast’ – a film gifted to Dreamworld from the local Yugambeh people delivered in a replica ‘humpy’. Students can learn about indigenous stories from around Australia from ancient to present day. Inside the Theatre you will find animated indigenous films, digital dot paintings, a large Tindale Map of the Indigenous tribe boundaries throughout Australia, and a Rainbow Serpent Snake timeline.
Dreamworld Corroboree Warrior -45mins
Become a Dreamworld Corroboree Warrior and learn about topics such as traditional music, ochre, tribal weapons (boomerangs, spears) and making fire.
Yarning Circle – 25mins
Come and have a yarn with an Interpretation Officer and learn about topics such as connection with wildlife, plants and natural events or traditional lifestyle, protocols, men’s and women’s business. Talks can also include reconnecting to culture for indigenous students who don’t know where they are from.
