Dreamworld is committed to assisting Indigenous people in Queensland to overcome the disadvantages they experience and acknowledges the overall importance of Indigenous culture to the organisation. Dreamworld recognises the value of having a diverse workforce.
Indigenous Employment Strategy:
Dreamworld has developed an Indigenous Employment Strategy (IES) to work towards social justice for Indigenous Australians. It will provide guidance for the Dreamworld community in providing successful work opportunities and employment outcomes for Indigenous people.
The Indigenous Employment Strategy aims to provide a framework to deliver improved Indigenous employment outcomes.
This strategy has been produced in response to Dreamworld’s commitment to its Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) and improving employee access for Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) target groups. These programs will generate an overarching strategy to see the theme park providing employment opportunities for a diverse workforce, which reflects the wider population. The strategy is acknowledgment by Dreamworld that additional measures to the principles of EEO are needed to increase Indigenous employment levels within Dreamworld.
The Dreamworld Indigenous Employment Strategy is built on six key components:
- Career and capability development
- Workplace culture
Management of the Indigenous Employment Strategy:
The Human Resources department will predominately manage the Indigenous Employment Strategy and has appointed an Indigenous Employment Coordinator and RAP (Reconciliation Action Plan) Internal Working Group to assist in this process. Human Resources will work closely with all departments within Dreamworld and WhiteWater World to ensure the Indigenous Employment Strategy is maintained and is supported by all employees.
Titans for Tomorrow work experience success story:
Titans for Tomorrow participant and budding Chef Kyle Turner recently completed work experience with Dreamworld.
