Our scarecrow is called Ray Cycle – The Wildlife Rescuer. His name sounds like “recycle” because our scarecrow is all about looking after wildlife, reducing waste and protecting the environment. 

Ray is wearing our school West shirt to show that kids like us can help make a difference. He is holding a koala with a QR code that people can scan to learn why koalas are endangered and what we can do to help protect them. 

Ray has 3D-printed bug hotels for his feet. Bug hotels give insects a safe place to live and help support biodiversity. We also sewed butterflies onto his legs to represent the insects and pollinators that are important to our environment. 

We made a bee from recycled soft drink bottles and attached it to a wooden ruler so it looks like it is flying beside Ray. Our message is “Bee the Change” because even small changes can help our environment. 

We also 3D printed a tree and ironed it onto the back of Ray’s shirt. The tree represents protecting habitats and caring for Country. 

We created Ray using recycled materials, sewing, 3D printing and digital technology. We hope Ray Cycle shows that everyone can be a Nature Guardian and help protect our wildlife and environment.
