Caboolture State School - Virtual

About the design

Caboolture State Schools Scarecrow made by the awesome art club students and Arts teacher. Created using old fabric/clothes, broken shoes, cardboard, old newspaper, a plant pot, plants from our school garden, and a mannequin bust donated to the school by the Chaplin.

The students wanted to focus on reusing old materials and wanted to make something that looked like a garden guardian mixed with a scarecrow. Each student chose different tasks, with some stuffing the pants and making legs out of old cardboard and newspaper. Another decided that they wanted it to look like it had wings by draping over old lace curtains and tying it with ribbon in the hopes that insects might use it to help get around.

The main idea of the head being the wanted for it to be able to not only protect the garden but to grow more plants to match the seasons using the plant pot head. Finally the face was an old broken mask from the arts department painted to look more like a traditional scarecrow.
