The Scarecrow That Became a Home 

He used to scare wildlife away. Now, he gives them somewhere to stay. 

Our students wanted to create a scarecrow with a difference — one that celebrates the incredible wildlife that shares our world and reminds us that even the smallest spaces can become a home for nature. 

Our scarecrow has transformed from a protector of crops into a protector of wildlife. His head has become a native bee hotel, with the tiny nesting holes. His oversized hat provides a home for feathered friends, while his recycled clothing has become shelter for insects and other small creatures. Even his old boots have found a new purpose, with a little lizard making one its home. 

Every part of our scarecrow has been designed with sustainability in mind. We have repurposed pre-loved clothing, recycled materials and natural items that might otherwise have been discarded, giving them a new purpose. 

Our students have also created the wildlife residents who have moved into his new home. Visitors are invited to follow our discovery trail, look closely and find them all. 

Our message is simple: when we make space for nature, nature moves in. 
Because there is always room for one more.
