 Dream a Better World

Jingeri!

Our talented junior students have created a vibrant scene inspired by the beautiful Coomera River and the jagun (Country) that connects us all. At the heart of our creation is Friendly Frankie, our Coomera superhero, dreaming of a better world for everyone and reminding us that small actions can create a better future.

Our scene celebrates caring for Country through simple, sustainable choices. Two children sit beneath a wattle tree, reflecting the Yugambeh meaning of Coomerakumera, referring to a particular species of wattle. They enjoy a healthy, plastic-free picnic on a handwoven rug made from recycled bread bags. The boy on the rug is also fishing, with an understanding passed down from his elders about caring for waterways and the importance of not overfishing.

Our backdrop acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of this Country and their deep connection and responsibility to care for land, plants and animals. Inspired by Yugambeh knowledge, our display celebrates local wildlife, including endangered and vulnerable birds, snakes, frogs, koalas and echidnas, all crafted from recycled bottles.
