Our Cartwheeling Wildlife Carer
A little action for a brighter tomorrow
We made a scarecrow who is doing a big cartwheel! We think he looks like a Wildlife Carer because he is looking after the animals and our Australian bush.
Our scarecrow brings together the creativity of our Prep students, who worked together to turn recycled and everyday materials into Australian wildlife.
Hidden around our scarecrow are bees, a snake, stick insects, a koala and a Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo. We placed the animals in unexpected places so visitors have to stop, look closely and discover them.
While creating our scarecrow, we learned that Australian animals need safe habitats and that some species are threatened. This helped us think about how we can be Wildlife Carers too, by noticing, caring for and protecting the world around us.
We chose a cartwheel because it shows energy, joy and action. It reminds us that caring for our environment isn't just something grown-ups do. Even Prep children can make a difference.
We hope our scarecrow makes people smile, encourages them to discover the wildlife hidden within it, and inspires everyone to become a little more of a Wildlife Carer.
Small Actions Make a Big Difference.
