About the design
The three Year 5 students of Injune P-10 have made a scarecrow depicting and Eastern Curlew. The 2026 theme is being a Nature Guardian. We explored what does it mean to be a Nature Guardian and came up with: Protecting our nature for future generations. The Year 5 students are being Nature Guardians by raising awareness for the Eastern Curlew, one of the many critically endangered Australian animals.
The year 5’s have spent that last couple of weeks researching, planning, drafting, gathering materials, and creating this Scarecrow. To build this sustainably, the Year 5s’ have used old items such as clothes, towels, pillowcases, and poly pipe to recycle for the better. Not only that, but we also used old wood from our groundsman “rubbish pile’ as our post for the Eastern Curlew to perch on. We hope you enjoy looking at our Eastern Curlew Scarecrow. – The Year 5 Students and Miss Mould.
