Farewell to The Claw – King Claw Coming Soon
Release Date: 28-01-2025

Dreamworld waves goodbye to The Claw as record-breaking King Claw prepares to rise from the depths in 2025
Dreamworld bid an emotional farewell to The Claw today, as the iconic attraction swung through the skies for the final time, marking the end of a thrilling two-decade legacy. But as one chapter closes, another begins, with Dreamworld gearing up for its next-generation thrill ride, King Claw, set to debut in late 2025.
Since opening in 2004, The Claw has been a cultural touchstone and a symbol of Dreamworld’s commitment to delivering heart-pounding adventures. Towering over 17 metres high with its breathtaking pendulum swings and exhilarating 360-degree spins, the ride became a magnet for adrenaline seekers from around the globe.
Over the years, The Claw has been more than just a ride; it has starred in media campaigns, such as its daring debut on Rove Live and appearances in Big Brother promotions, cementing its place in Australian pop culture. For millions of guests, it’s been the backdrop of unforgettable moments and family memories.
Dreamworld CEO, Greg Yong, reflected on the ride’s legacy and shared his excitement for the future.
“While it’s never easy to say goodbye to an iconic attraction, we’re thrilled to introduce King Claw. This ride will redefine thrills at Dreamworld and deliver an experience unlike anything we’ve ever offered.”
Scheduled to open in late 2025, King Claw promises to take the adrenaline factor to new heights. Developed by industry leader Intamin, the ride will stand an impressive 27 metres tall—more than 50% higher than The Claw—and deliver speeds and swing heights that surpass even the highest peak of Steel Taipan, Dreamworld’s largest rollercoaster. As the largest gyro swing ride in the Southern Hemisphere, King Claw will offer guests a heart-pounding adventure and set a new benchmark for theme park attractions.
Shane Jaggard, the theme park enthusiast behind the popular Jaggs Journeys account, celebrated The Claw’s legacy while looking forward to the future.
“The Claw is truly an icon, not just for Dreamworld but for the entire country. Its legacy is unparalleled, and while it will be missed, King Claw will honour its spirit while offering an even more exhilarating experience.”
Construction on King Claw will commence immediately following The Claw’s closure, with updates on its progress shared regularly through Dreamworld’s channels. This ambitious project also highlights Dreamworld’s commitment to the Gold Coast’s vibrant tourism industry, supporting local jobs and drawing visitors from across the globe.
