Our history

Welcome to Rivertown

Our story begins with an unplanned landing in untamed wilderness, leaving a brother and sister stranded far from civilisation. But where others saw obstacles, Jane and Murray Tasman saw opportunity. 

Together, they transformed Rivertown into a lush oasis of discovery and connection to be explored by adventurers near and far, blending warm hospitality with thrilling adventures and unforgettable sights. Ready to explore the world they created?

Meet Jane Tasman

Jane is the heart of Rivertown. Known for her generosity and determination, Jane's always ready with a helping hand and a hearty meal. But, don't mistake her kindness for weakness; she's a force to be reckoned with who stands up for what's right, no matter what.

Meet Murray Tasman

Murray is behind Rivertown's ingenuity. A skilled mechanic, he established Murrissippi Motors. Rough around the edges but with a heart of gold, Murray keeps Rivertown moving. Thanks to his adventurous spirit, he also explored an ancient temple we now know as Jungle Rush.

The sites

Thunderbolt's Rest

The family was on their next adventure when weather forced a crash-landing. A brief stop became a struggle for survival and discovery. Their plane remains, slowly being reclaimed by the jungle, a reminder of their unexpected journey.

Camp Tasman

After landing, Murray and Jane sheltered under a giant fig tree. Their camp's remnants, tools, and belongings can still be found in the jungle. Their survival and exploration led to the founding of what we now know as Rivertown.

Explore the ancient temple, then ride a jeep for the rush. Plunge into the chamber at wild speeds but where you'll end up is anyone's guess! Ride twice to uncover hidden secrets and ancient mysteries the Tasmans first explored.

For a slower pace, visit Murrissippi Motors. Mechanical whiz Murray Tasman built a garage in the ruins to help travellers but now you can enjoy a relaxing drive in one of his refurbished expedition cars, ready for any adventure.

As Rivertown attracted more visitors, Jane Tasman opened her restaurant for hungry travellers. Enjoy delicious food and drinks amidst treasures found by the Tasmans and quirky items traded by adventurers for a hearty meal.

This serene spot is the perfect place to unwind, offering a tranquil view of the Murrissippi River's calm waters. Home to an abundance of local bird life, from graceful waterfowl to small songbirds flitting along the banks. If you're lucky, you might even spot a turtle basking on a rock or lazily drifting by. It's a beautiful, quiet place to sit back, relax, and enjoy the natural beauty—just be sure to resist the urge to jump in for a swim!
